LoanPASS Luminaries: Tess Anson

Meet Tess Anson. By day, she’s a mortgage industry powerhouse with a career spanning more than 30 years. Outside of work, she moonlights as a charcuterie artist whose chief patrons are her spouse, three children, and two dogs.

Tess' professional journey began in 1993, back when Good Faith Estimates were still hand-typed and printed on carbon paper, with a role as a processing clerk. After learning the business through a variety of roles including loan officer assistant, closer, and shipper, Tess moved to the underwriting department in the late ’90s. Twenty-three years later, she remains a decorated underwriter with direct endorsement certification from HUD and approval to underwrite VA and USDA loans.

Tess has been an integral part of the LoanPASS team since joining as VP of guideline management and investor relations in 2021. She’s not only incredibly knowledgeable, she’s also a joy to work with and a servant leader who exemplifies LoanPASS’ QCITI core values:

Quality

Tess is responsible for ensuring the quality and accuracy of the product, pricing, and eligibility information LoanPASS collects from investors and delivers to originators every day. Tess is exceptionally good at her job, ensuring investor LLPA updates go live in LoanPASS with exceptional speed and consistency. She even applies her extensive experience underwriting government loans to programmatically correct USDA loan calculations that aren’t always accurate as received from the LOS.

Collaboration

As the primary point of contact for LoanPASS’ investor partners, Tess builds long-term relationships that help investors grow their correspondent and broker networks, increase transactions, and mitigate risk. She also oversees five direct reports on the LoanPASS guideline management team as they maintain rate sheets and data for thousands of correspondent, wholesale, retail, and portfolio products across more than 100 sets of unique guidelines. She leads by example, working alongside her colleagues to see projects through to completion and collaborating with LoanPASS’ development team to help architect new types of lending guidelines.

Innovation & Transformation

Tess has played an integral role in several transformational projects that have helped LoanPASS earn a reputation as an innovator among pricing solutions. For example, she supported LoanPASS’ integration with ICE Mortgage Technology’s Encompass loan origination system by testing all of the mapping of the hundreds of data fields shared between the systems, making it possible for lenders that use Encompass to get up and running with LoanPASS in as little as fifteen minutes. She also helped build out LoanPASS’ support for down payment assistance programs, which are notoriously difficult to price and decision.

Integrity

For the better part of three decades, Tess worked to protect borrowers from unaffordable loans, safeguard lenders' assets, and ensure that investments in mortgage-backed securities are sound. Today she brings that same level of integrity to her work with LoanPASS customers and investors.

Mortgage rates and fees can change daily, making guideline management a critical department for any pricing provider. That’s doubly true here at LoanPASS, where our decisioning and pricing engine is purpose-built to handle all asset classes, from complex mortgages to consumer, reverse, personal, business, and commercial loans. From the company’s earliest days, we knew we needed someone special to lead our guideline management and investor relations functions, and that’s just what we found in Tess Anson.
